Serigraphs
A Serigraph is essentially a silkscreen print, a term that has emerged to describe this age-old yet straightforward technique.
The process involves a stencil placed on and adhered to a screen made of silk or any other fabric, stretched on a frame. A piece of paper is placed under the frame. The printmaker pulls a thin rubber blade (a squeegee) across the screen, and the squeegee squeezes ink through the open areas.
These exquisite serigraphs were crafted by the renowned Azumi Kato Fine Art in Torrance, CA. Kato, a master serigrapher with numerous awards to his name, has since retired and returned to Japan. Recognizing that he may never find another artist who could match the exceptional standards of Kato Fine Arts, Jd then made the difficult decision to halt the production of serigraphs. During the creation of these stunning hand-screened prints, Jd personally traveled to California to oversee the meticulous process. Due to their unparalleled quality and limited availability, these serigraphs are not only rare but also highly sought after and valuable collectibles.
